Save Girl Child
Unfortunately, the birth of a girl child is not welcomed with a smiling face in many parts of India. Right from her birth, a girl child has to face discrimination, humiliation, and oppression. A girl child is mostly neglected when it comes to healthcare, education and growth opportunities only because she is a female. Majority of the girl child surrender to the sad fate assigned to them. Due to this discrimination, girls are not sent to school, rather they are kept at home where they are victims of stereotypical attitude.
Child marriage is yet another issue because of which girls are forced to drop from school at an early age. The issue of protection and rights of a girl child is a quite serious concern. Majority of girls are generally not sent to school and the ones who manage to attend school risk violence and abuse. A girl child is not even safe in her mother’s womb. Today, girl child rights are being aggressively advocated by individuals, governmental organizations, and various NGO’s. It is essential to realize that girls are not liabilities rather they are assets.
A gender that does not claim, but deserves the highest gratefulness and admiration, is regrettably being served the opposite in society today. Women play a key role in shaping the fortune of our civilization, yet the girl child, over and over again, not only faces abandon and inequality but sometimes the gravest forms of brutality/crime. Regardless of tremendous hue and cry about gender parity and the enforcement of various laws for achieving an equal position for a girl child, a large number of new-born girls are still being dumped in the garbage, while the unborn female fetuses continue to be sniffed in the womb. Even though sex determination is prohibited, but at some places, it is still practiced.
Ultrasound Dr. Monika, one of the famous doctors is strictly against gender determination during various ultrasound practices in the diagnostic centre.
